We are moving....

I thought that I would try out blogger, and it has been fun, but I feel the need to consolidate my 3 blogs into one, and so I am going to post all future entries on my Homeschool blogger page. It gets a lot more traffic- about 300 hits a day, and besides I am busier than ever these days!
so, from now on, I'll have to see you over at:

Week Number 138

1) Why do we give people hugs?

I am not sure as to the anthropological meaning or cause of hugging, but I did find this nice site about hugs, that I found interesting:)

2) When have you most shocked yourself?

I can't even think of an answer to that one! It hardly ever happens!

3) Where would you consider constructing a small altar in your house or yard?

Probably in my bedroom, or the living room, if I ever felt a need for one. I guess a Christmas tree kind of represents a sacred space sort of like an altar, of course there is no sacrificing on it though.

We put that in the living room of course

I remember, that when I was in Catholic school growing up, we had an altar area in our classroom. I was responsible for arranging it for a time. There was a Bible, on a stand, and some natural items, such as dried flowers, seashells and rocks we could use to make it look pretty. There was also a rosary, pretty fabric and a bookmark. I often turned the Bible to the psalms, because I have always been fond of poetry.

4) If you could change one thing about your typical day, what would you change?

I would like to always know exactly what is most important to accomplish each day for the time allotted me.

5) Show and Tell. What comes to mind first when you see this picture? Or, tell a story if it reminds you of one.

Forks.... scary things children will or have tried to insert into outlets.....

This reminds me of my parent's house.

As I am writing this, an outlet situation has actually come up here. Our corn snake, Esther was discovered to be out of water. My daughter got him out and immediately , he went right up her sleeve. He was cold! Someone keeps unplugging his heater! This is dangerous for a snake, because it can cause him to regurgitate his food, since if there is not enough warmth, the food will spoil in his stomach before it is digested. If a snake regurgitates 3 times in a row, it will probably die. Poor Esther! I asked my boys who unplugged him, and I got no admittances.

Gotta check that thing more often!

Sleeping with Bread#2

Sleeping with Bread....

This week was very unusual.....
You may recall from last week, that "trust in the Lord" was on my heart.
This week was the closest we have ever come to having
completely empty cupboards, fridge and freezer.
It was one of those types of times when the question was " Do you think we should go to the food pantry on Saturday?"...." No- we need the gas to get to work...."
Our friend brought some produce from her garden, and when Saturday came, we were scraping by, eating tomatoes at every meal, and baking bread.... down to our last roll of toilet paper..... hoping to make it to church to see the African Children's Choir who had come to visit.
That day We received notice that Social Security had underpaid us for disability, and they corrected their mistake.
We had enough to get gas, groceries, and give at church.
We also had enough to get my husband his medications.

Holding on to the words of the Lord, especially Psalm 37, gave me hope, and helped me to cling to joy instead of loosing it and to encourage the troops here by writing verses on our whiteboard.
I will be having the children memorize psalm 37....

What was life sucking???? the same darn thing as last week! I need more rest.... but I got caught up last night:)

Curious as a Cat

Week Number 137

1) What is the single most important ingredient for a spiritual life?

The correct deity- there is only one God, and He isn't whatever you make Him, or however you want Him to be. Recognizing God for who He is, is the most important.

2) Who is the person you know with the freest spirit?

Probably my youngest son, Rowan

3) How does it make you feel when you hear people argue?

Annoyed... sick... stressed... like leaving... or speaking up to end it ,if I know the solution to the problem.

4) What one thing would you give to each of your ex-lovers?

An apology for leading them in the wrong direction and condoning bad behavior.

A way to be right with God, if they don't already have that.

5) Show and Tell. What comes to mind first when you see this picture? Or, tell a story if it reminds you of one.

Wow- looks like the other white meat to me:)

Week Number 136

1) If you had to exchange souls with someone you know for one day, who would you pick?

I would probably pick my husband, because then I might be able to get him through some tough times at his job.

2) When were you happiest to come home?

It's always nice to come home after being away for a while.. I think my happiest home-coming was when I drove all night through Iowa on the way back from South Dakota, and everyone else was sleeping..... It was a gorgeous sunrise that morning though.

3) What is your favorite part of yesterday?

My favorite part of yesterday was when my husband came home from work and I had dinner ready for him, to comfort him after dealing with some tough issues on the job. It cheered him up. I have always heard that they way to a man's heart is through his stomach- and I didn't believe it, but I swear that in Raymond's case- it is true- he praises nothing so highly as he does my cooking! mothering is a close second

4) What has been your greatest accomplishment in life so far?

MY accomplishments are nothing compared to the accomplishments of God working in my life- which is the root cause of all I have done.

I survived loosing a child, homeschool 3 with special needs, saved my husband's life a few times, recognizing serious conditions and getting him help.

I can't think of a whole lot I have done that tops those.

5) Show and Tell. What comes to mind first when you see this picture? Or, tell a story if it reminds you of one.

The Night Out...

She wanted him to take her dancing. The clothes were set aside to remind him of their special day. But that day never came. Something dreadful happened to them, and this is the scene that those who went to clean out their empty home found as the entered.

What has been life-giving to me this week, and what has fed my soul?
Observing nature was a balm to my spirit.
Prayer before speaking to those I wish to influence calmed me and helped me to choose my words carefully.
The words Trust in the Lord have come up often in music and in conversations, sermons and also personal reading.
This weekend, the message was about the principle of Firstfruits., that is, giving the firt part of your week, and the first part of your income to God. The purpose of tithing, the Bible says is to teach you to always put God first in your life.
Man's existance on the earth began with a day of rest- in the evening of the 6th day- which by Biblical timing is actually the beginning of the 7th day. We are to work from our rest, not rest from our work.
I find this very hard to do. I have found myself sick again for the second time in two weeks- it is just a little scratchy throat and a cold, but I may not have gotten it if I had actually RESTED the other day like I should have.
I want to rest from my work instead and this has been life-sucking, because I got litte or nothing done all week, because I was sick!
I should have listened to what God was saying!

Lord help me to do what you ask and not be slow in obeying, in Jesus' Name, amen.
